Nepal

The serenity and grandeur of Nepal attracts nearly one-half million visitors every year. This small, ancient, land-locked country (147,181 Sq. Kms.), nestled between two giants, India and China, is home to more than 35 million people, 40 ethnic groups, 70 spoken languages, and many religions.

From the north—Nepal's sky high border with Tibet—to the south, where the Terai's jungles buzz just above sea level, Nepal offers the visitor so many different environments to explore, even in a short time. We are the only country to have 7 (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites, many situated within a 20 kilometer radius! After you have experienced ancient Kathmandu, you can take a day trip around the Kathmandu Valley, spend a weekend in the jungle of Chitwan National Park (a World Heritage Site), or trek deep into the Himalayas. Trekking options include: Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Sanctuary, Rara Lake (in Western Nepal's "wild west"), or the seldom-visited Nymba valley, to name just a few. And because of Nepal's diverse terrain and climate: from the world's deepest gorge (Kali-Gandaki) to the highest point on earth (Mt. Everest), one can explore this magnificent country all year round

Everest Trekking - the Sagarmatha National Park

Mt. Everest has inspired countless dreams and adventures, including visions of scaling the highest mountain on earth to those of getting a taste of the high mountains with a pack on their back and a camera in hand; ready to capture some incredible views of the lofty snowy mountain peaks that seem to grow in this region.

The original route taken on the first ascent of Everest was from Jiri, but now the usual approach to this region begins with a breathtaking flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airstrip (2,800 meters). Here you are surrounded by the glistening spires of snow peaks from the start of the trek, and they only get higher and more magnificent as you go. The route is dotted by sacred Tibetan Buddhist mani stones (engraved with prayers and Buddhist images), prayer flags, and the occasional stupa (representing the mind of Buddha). The winding Dudha and Bhote Koshi rivers are a beautiful glacier-fed aqua blue, joined by many tributaries supporting waterfalls. Trekkers can wander up to bustling Namche Bazaar, to the revered Tengboche Monastery, to crystalline Gokyo Lake, historic Everest Base Camp, and many other remarkable places in the Everest region. You share the trail with yak trains and Tibetan nomads and can choose to stay in simple but welcoming guesthouses in all but the most remote areas. Treks can be from one week to more than a month. Expect to take some rest days for acclimatization as most trails quickly go above 3,500 meters. Level of trekking: moderate to strenuous

Kanchenjunga Trekking

Kanchenjunga is the world’s third highest mountain and is situated in the north-eastern corner of Nepal, straddling the border with Sikkim. Kanchenjunga is not a single summit but a mountain massif consisting of five summits with several satellite peaks and glaciers.

Until Nepal opened its borders to foreign visitors in the early 1950’s Kanchenjunga was probably the best recognised and most well known of all the Himalaya peaks as it could be clearly seen from Darjeeling, then part of the British regime. After the border control was relaxed, focus turned to the Annapurna and Everest regions and Kanchenjunga lost a bit of its appeal. Access became difficult from the east, the traditional starting point, as Sikkim then closed its border to foreign travellers. It was not until as late as 1988 that access to the north side of Kanchenjunga was relaxed and explorers, climbers and trekkers were able to fully appreciate the majestic beauty of this Himalayan giant.

The area is home to a variety of endangered species; The snow leopard, musk deer, red panda, grey wolf and the Himalayan Black Bear. It is still a pristine environment and an area that every mountain lover should not only visit but take an active role in protecting its natural diversity

The stupa is located in the area of ancient trade route to Tibet where Tibetan merchants rested and offered prayers for many centuries. When refugees entered Nepal from Tibet in the 1950s, many decided to live around Bouddhanath. Hence, a complete township has developed around Bouddhanath.

The stupa is said to entomb the remains of a Kasyap sage venerable both to Buddhists and Hindus. Smaller stupas are located at the base. Gompa monasteries, curio shops, and restaurants surround Bouddhanath.

Nepal Culture

Nepal is blessed with a rich cultural heritage. Culture has been called 'the way of life for an entire society'. The statement holds particularly true in case of Nepal where every aspect of life, food, clothing and even occupations are culturally classified. In a society so feudalistic and so fractured across class lines, cultural heritage comes as a fresh wind. The culture of Nepal includes the codes of manners, dress, language, rituals, norms of behavior and systems of belief.

The culture of Nepal is a unique combination of tradition and novelty. The traditions are followed as they were and new customs are created to keep pace with the changing times. It is surprising to note that a country as poor, illiterate and backward as Nepal displays such flexibility when it come to incorporating traits from other cultures. Culture in Nepal is an assemblage of music, architecture, religion and literature. The mountain kingdom of Nepal is multi-ethic and multi-lingual. The land is rich with unique cultural groups like Tharu,Yadav, Ahir, Newars and others.

Nepalese are among the most hospitable hosts. This is the reason for which tourists from far and wide enjoy coming to Nepal time and again. Nepalese are culturally warm, hospitable and affectionate hosts who place their heart above their head. Religion is the lifeblood of the Nepalese. Officially it is a Hindu country, but in practice the religion is a syncretism of Hindu and Buddhist beliefs with a pantheon of Tantrik deities tagged on.

Nepal's food is surprisingly dull given that it lies at the intersection of the two great gastronomic giants India and China. Most of the time meals consist of a dish called dhal-bhat-tarkari that is a combination of lentil soup, rice and curried vegetables. It can hardly be considered, a dynamic national cuisine. On the other hand, Nepal has adapted famously to Western tastes, markedly evident in Katmandu's smorgasbord of menus: Mexican tacos; Japanese sukiyaki; Thai chocolate; Chinese marshmallows; onion and minestrone soup; borscht, quiche and soy burgers; and some of the best desserts - apple and lemon pies, almond layer cakes, fruit cakes - found anywhere in the world.

Mount Everest Height

Human mind is by nature sadist. It is by nature voyeuristic too. It likes controversy and lives by it. And if we talk precisely of South Asian societies then we can easily conclude that it is the most argumentative society between the two worlds. It is impossible to find a man or a thing for which two different and contradicting views are not proposed. The same goes true with Mount Everest too. Almost every man you ask will give you his and her exclusive data on it. I am positive that during your tours to Nepal you will come across so many conspiracy theories and versions about Mount Everest summit and related facts that you will faint only to be woken by another bizarre version of the same.

The current height of Mount Everest has been deduced to 8848 meters or 29,028 feet above the sea level. It was in 1852 that this giant was first measured. Some sporadic efforts for its measurement were done earlier too but all of them were abandoned in the middle. In the year 1852, The British Trigonometrical Survey of India measured Everest's elevation as 29,002 feet above the sea level. How could, with such limited means and such primitive instruments, anyone find the actual height of the Everest? But surprisingly, that figure was extremely close to the actual height. This remarkably accurate figure remained the officially accepted height for more than one hundred years. It was only in the year 1955 that this figure was slightly adjusted. The adjusted height was merely 26 feet adrift of the 1852 figure. The adjusted figure stands at 29,028 feet (8,848 m).

In the year 2007, the Federal Government of China decided to initiate another drive to measure the height of the Mount Everest. It has been done keeping in view the availability of modern technique and equipments. Besides, due to global warming and its counter-repercussions, the height of various mountain peaks has varied from the established figures.

Mount Everest Pictures

Human eyes have searched wonders since time immemorial. It is the basic human nature to feel happy when it sees something spectacular. Mount Everest is splendid yet simple. Mount Everest is intimidating yet subtle. There are various colors and hues of it as the sun, sets for its well-traversed path. It is gold under the sun and silver amidst moonlit sky. Mount Everest inspires in many way. The story of its expedition signifies the triumph of human race where as its death toll remind us of our mortality. It looks intimidating and that's why inspires every coming generation to scale it. Truly, it is very difficult for someone to describe all these in words and where word fails, spectacle takes its position. These are some of the pictures that have been painstakingly taken to let you get a feel of what we failed to consolidate in words

Mount Everest History

The history of the expedition of Mount Everest is interesting, yet gruesome. Since the first expedition in the year 1924, there were numerous attempts made for the summit but the first success came as late as in the year 1953. The expeditions have till now claimed more than 400 lives. Following is the Timeline of the expeditions of Mount Everest: -

1841: Sir George Everest, Surveyor General of India from 1830 to 1843, records the location of Everest.

1852: The Great Trigonometrical Survey of India determines the Peak XV is the highest mountain in the world.

1856: Surveyor Andrew Waugh completes the first height measurement, declaring Everest to be 8840 meters high. (29,002 feet)

1865: Peak XV re-named Mt. Everest to honor Sir George Everest, the Surveyor General of India. Everest is known as Chomolungma in Tibet and Sagarmatha in Nepal.

1923: While on a lecture tour in the United States, a reporter asks Mallory why he wants to climb Everest, and Mallory immortally replies, "Because it's there".

1924: June 8th: George Mallory and Andrew Irvine attempt the summit using oxygen and Irvine's modified oxygen apparatus. Noel Odell, climbing in support below, catches a glimpse of the climbers at 12:50 pm ascending a "great rock step" on the NE Ridge above. They never returned. During the 1933 expedition, Andrew Irvine's ice ax is found on the upper slopes of the mountain at about 27,690 feet (8440 meters) and approximately 250 yards (meters) east of the First Step. Mallory's remains were found at 26,750 feet (8150 meters), on a line vertically below the ice ax position. No evidence of a successful summit bid has been found, nor have any signs of the two climbers been found above the Second Step, the key to the route. Despite the lack of hard evidence, the debate on whether they reached the summit of Everest continues to this day.

1953: British Expedition and First Summit.

1953,May 26: First Assault by Evans and Bourdillon from the South Col using closed-circuit oxygen sets. The same day Hunt leads a party of Sherpas from the South Col. Evans and Bourdillon reach the South Summit at 1 PM at an elevation of 28,750 feet (8770 meters), but are forced to descend due to the lateness of the hour, strong winds, and lack of oxygen.

1953,May 29: Second Assault by Hillary and Tenzing using open-circuit oxygen sets. They leave Camp IX at approximately 27,900 feet (8500 meters) by 6:30 AM, and reach the S. Summit by 9 AM. After negotiating the 40 feet (12 meter) Hillary Step, they are the first to reach the summit of Everest, reaching the top at 11:30 AM. After descending to the South Col, they are met by George Lowe where Hillary states: "Well, George, we knocked the bastard off!"

1955: The height of Everest is adjusted to 29,028 feet (8848 meters).

Museum of Natural History Nepal

The Museum of Natural History of Nepal is one of the marvels of Kathmandu. Situated at a walking distance from the National Museum, the museum will fall in your right-hand while going towards Swayambhunath hills. The Museum of Natural History has a very interesting collection of various species of the fauna and flora from across the Himalayan kingdom. The museum has various types of amphibians, mammals, reptiles and invertebrates in its collection. While many of these organisms have been stuffed, a lot of them are preserved in a chemical called Formaldehyde that is popularly known as Formalyne.

There is a separate section for insects too that contains various insects collected from the nook and corners of Himalayas. Many of these species are now extinct. The same is true for various species of mammals and other amphibians. All of these displays are organized as per their evolution. It has a separate section for plants too. This section contains various herbs and grasses that grow in Himalayas and Tarai region. This section is not as comprehensive as the section on fauna but is equally interesting. The museum is slowly picking up on the tourist map but is in dire straits because of the lack of fund. If you are a biologist then this place is a boon for you. If you are not, then also this place is worth visiting

Nepal's rivers are second to none, originating from the glaciers of the worlds highest mountains, they plunge through towering gorges and forested foothills before the more tranquil journey along the Ganges plain on their way to the Bay of Bengal. Rivers here are regarded as goddesses, and are included in a number of Hindu and Buddhist religious rituals. You may be lucky to witness a river festival during your trip.

Nepal Rafting. There is plenty of white water to keep the adrenaline high, with more tranquil stretches in between allowing time to reflect on the abundance of natural beauty. Camping overnight on the banks of the river in two person tents often around a campfire made from driftwood. All necessary equipment is provided and each rafting team is led by one of our experienced Nepali leaders. Rafting experience is not necessary unless stated in the itinerary.

Nepalese rivers can be grouped into three categories on the basis of their origin:

1. Antecedent to the Himalayas
2. Below the Mahabharat
3. Below the Churia range

The major river systems-- the Koshi, the Karnali and the Gandaki-- belong to the first group. Rivers originating from the Mahabharat Range, those which cut through Churia hills, come under the second group. These include the Karnali, Bagmati, Kamala. The third group of rivers originate from the southern face of the Churia hills. We run rafting expeditions on the following river routes

Tours & Sightseeing in Nepal

Nepal is known the world over as a nation of colour and contrasts - a hidden Shangri - La of nature, culture, and adventure. Its hallmark, undoubtedly, is the majestic snow - capped Himalaya, home to eight of the world’s 8,000 meter peaks. There is, however, a whole lot more to Nepal than its heights. Powerful rivers rush out from the Himalaya providing world class rafting opportunities as they cascade down the middle hills and empty out into the steamy flatlands of the Terai in the south.

Here exotic game and innumerable species of birds have made the jungle reserves their home and equally exotic people live in painted homes among lush green paddy fields. Indeed, the breath taking biotic diversity of Nepalese mirrored by the equally diverse population whose rich cultural heritage colours this nation with festivals and rituals, songs and masked dances, and a piety the level of which is matched by few places on this earth. This piety is reflected in the many artistic temples and monuments its people have built. this peaceful Himalayan Kingdom is thus an adventurer’s paradise, a naturalist’s dream, and a living ethnographic museum. It is primarily an agricultural country, and tourism, carpets and garments are the major industries.

We have such a variety of tour which covers culture, adventure, wildlife safari, trekking, birding, sky sports rafting and so on.. here are some Tours which has designed with combing all what all possible within your time available

Mustang region remains entirely Tibetan in character, from its 5000 inhabitants and the Buddhist religion, to the crops grown and the dialect spoken. Mustang’s unofficial capital, the walled city of Lo Manthang, retains its own king in residence.
